Karen is a devoted student of yoga and meditation, having practiced Hatha Yoga for 19 years. She has been a student of John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga, since 1992. Karen has studied at Yoga for Life in El Paso, Texas; at Moscow Yoga Center in Moscow, Idaho; and at Garden Street School of Anusara Yoga in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Karen received her Anusara Yoga teacher training from John Friend and from Karen Sprute-Francovich, and received her Anusara-Inpired teaching status in 2008 at Garden Street Yoga. She is deeply grateful for the graceful masters of yoga, from many traditions, who have crossed her path-- both locally and nationally; as well as to her family, friends and community who support her work. Karen studies regularly with Karen Sprute-Francovich, Paul Muller-Ortega, and John Friend; and is strongly influenced by the work of Christina Sell, Martin Kirk, and Noah Mazé. She is committed to a light-hearted, generous and devotional expression of the Yoga Path and weaves humor, precise alignment and yoga philosophy into all of her classes.
Karen lives in Moscow, Idaho with her husband and family, a menagerie of pets and a benign addiction to word puzzles.
Anusara® Yoga is an American system of Hatha Yoga founded in 1997 by John Friend. Anusara Yoga is an evolutionary and radiant style of Yoga with an underpinning in Indian Tantric philosophy and an emphasis on community. Its heart-centered philosophy affirms each person's intrinsic goodness, dignity and beauty, and asserts that Life, at its very essence, is good. The Universal Principles of Alignment™ used in Anusara Yoga provide healing for the body, optimal energetic flow and a celebration of the art and science of Yoga. Anusara Yoga is one of the fastest growing systems of Yoga in the world, as it places service, community and liberation of the Spirit as its highest values.
